CCSI Understanding and Unpacking Trauma Training Series
Thank you for your interest in attending our Understanding & Unpacking Trauma Training Series! Please see session descriptions below and choose the sessions you'd like to attend. We strongly encourage you attend both!

Session 1 - March 17th: Pandemic Trauma
A discussion surrounding the mental health consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic and tools for coping. As we consider how COVID-19 may impact our society, we must consider both the medical and societal mental health consequences, including collective trauma. Having a set plan for responding to mental health needs, is just as important as a plan for protecting ones medical and physical health.

Session 2 - March 31st: Urban Grief & Loss
Increased stress and anxiety are common responses to the coronavirus outbreak. These responses can be more acute for communities predisposed to trauma, because often they are already contending with other mental health stressors. It is important to continue ongoing efforts to understand why black persons are disproportionately impacted by COVID-19, including the role of social and economic factors in infection risk. In this workshop we discuss the traumatic loss and grief in urban communities, the disproportionate impact of this disease on racial and ethnic minority communities, social factors that put these communities in a disadvantaged place to respond to an epidemic and to recover from diseases, and resiliency factors.
